Can I use CHIDEM products whilst I am pregnant?
None of our products contain ingredients at levels which should cause concern during pregnancy or while trying to get pregnant. However, certain products contain ingredients such as essential oils that some women choose to avoid entirely during pregnancy. If you have any concerns at all we advise you to consult your GP or pharmacist and show them the ingredient list before using the product. Our ingredients lists are available on our website and we provide the formulation sheet with every order. During pregnancy we believe every woman should keep their skin moisturized at all times, and highly recommend using our Body Butter from the Personalized Luxury Collection which is made using 100% organic oils and butters avoiding formation of stretch marks. For skin, we recommend using the Night Repair Oil along with a Beauty Crème.
What is a Beauty Crème?
Beauty Crèmes are face moisturizers. We named all our face moisturizers as Beauty Crème, as we believe our crèmes provide beauty to your skin by evening out skin tone, energizing it and helping to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
Where can I find my Unique Customer Code and what does it refer to?
With each order you are sent a card with your Unique Customer Code (UCC), an individual code signifying that you are now an integral part of this luxury brand. We store your orders, consultation answers, formulation sheets all under this code. We never ever share this confidential information with anyone elsewhere. At any time, if you would like to enquire any information on your formulation, personalized scent or any other concerns please email us quoting your Unique Customer Code so we can identify your details and ensure we answer you proficiently. Also if you would like to order the same personalized item, you wouldn’t have to answer all the questions again but just can quote back your UCC.
Is there any SPF in your moisturizers?
Our moisturizers do not contain SPF ingredients and we would recommend the use of additional sun protection if you are outside for long periods. We recommend you apply a thin layer of SPF after cleansing and applying your face cream in the morning. Your face cream will contain up to 35% oil, therefore using an oil-free SPF is sufficient. We advise using a SPF factored foundation, to avoid caking and accumulation of layers of products on your skin. So a SPF factored foundation on your beauty crème is more than sufficient. We also advise you to exfoliate and apply your face mask in the evening and not before you are exposed to sun.
Can I use CHIDEM Products on my children?
Our safety certification allows the usage of products for children who are over 36 months. Our highly nutritional and vitamin packed butters and oils treat your children skin and protect them against any free radical damage.
Please be aware that all our products are free from skin-unfriendly ingredients such as synthetic fragrance, pore-blocking petrochemicals, sulfate detergents, synthetic colours, parabens or other potential irritants. If your child has any particular allergies or skin conditions then you should first consult your GP or pharmacist and specify whilst ordering for us to avoid that specific ingredient.
Does CHIDEM test on animals?
We do not test any of our products on animals. Our products are not tested on animals on our behalf by any third party. We are delighted to report that the European Commission has implemented a marketing ban on cosmetic products that have been tested on animals or contain ingredients that were tested on animals after 11th March 2013.
The only animal product we use is beeswax in our Body Silk Treatment Butter from the Personalized Luxury Collection.
Is CHIDEM’s Bottles Recyclable?
The bottles we use are entirely recyclable, re-usable and can be returned to us to be re-filled. One great tip is to fill the spray bottle with olive or sunflower oil and rather than pouring the oil to the pan, spray it. This way you will reduce and control the amount of oil you use during cooking.
Is CHIDEM Organic?
Organic is a term principally used in relation to food where it has a clear and well-understood definition - the growing and preparation of food products without the use of chemical fertilisers, GM ingredients and chemical additives such as preservatives, colourings etc. Increasingly, organic is a term that is being applied to beauty products.
Our approach is to always stay transparent. We translate all our ingredients to English on our product labels and description. The organic ingredients are identified with “*” and all the natural and/or naturally derived ingredients are identified with “**”. Most of the carrier and essential oils and active ingredients we use are organic, unless otherwise stated.
It is impossible to make skincare products using just essential and vegetable oils. It is in the area of the other ingredients necessary in skincare such as emulsifiers, stabilisers and preservatives that the term “organic” is harder to sensibly define. We are proud to state that all our emulsifiers and preservatives are food grade, and all derived from nature.
Does CHIDEM products contain preservatives?
Yes however our oil and butter based products do not contain preservatives. This includes the Beauty of Youth Anti-ageing Facial Treatment Oil, Moisture Therapy Cleansing Beauty Balm, KEPRO+ Hair Serum, Personalized Luxury Body Butter and Personalized Luxury Bath Oil. All our oil formulas are blended with Vitamin E and Rosemary Extract to prolong their shelf life up to a year. Preservative is only needed when a water and oil emulsion is prepared and mixed to create a creamy texture. Our preservative has an eco-based formula, which could also be used as a food grade preservative.
Why are preservatives required?
Using a small amount of safe preservative allows you to use the product for up to 6-12 months when opened. Products can spoil when they're not preserved properly as we tend to keep our cosmetics in humid bathroom conditions. Preservatives are essential in most products (except balms and oils that are stable) to prevent damage caused by micro-organisms and to avoid contamination.
Where do you source your raw materials?
Each product is developed by Cigdem herself using the finest organic and natural raw materials from around 40 countries. These materials are harvested and have been fairly traded and ethically sourced from traditional communities, modern community projects and co-operatives which seek to create a better world. These countries are; UK, France, Bulgaria, Spain, Turkey, Switzerland, Holland, Sweden, Morocco, Egypt, Brazil, Mexico, Sri Lanka, Senegal, Indonesia, Australia, Madagascar, Somaliland, Ghana, Albany, Zambia, Kenya, China, Nepal, South Africa, Chile, Philippines, India, Jordan and the South American Rainforest.
I live in Ireland and have problems with the postcode.
Since there are no postcodes in Ireland please add any four digit number as a postcode during the registration process. This will ensure that the order goes through.
Can I get an allergic reaction from CHIDEM products?
Although allergic reactions from CHIDEM products are very rare indeed, if you think you have suffered an allergic reaction, please stop using the product. It is possible to be allergic to pretty much anything including essential oils and other natural ingredients. Our products contain nut oils, and if that’s the case you might react to tree-nut oils. If you suspect you have sensitivity to certain oils we strongly recommend that you test a small amount of any new product on the inside of your elbow. If you experience any redness or tingling please return the product for a refund.
As our products are handmade to suit each client’s needs, please specify any allergies you are aware of whilst ordering so we can revise our formulas and create a product suitable for you.
Are CHIDEM products non-comodogenic (non-pore blocking)?
Yes. Our products have been formulated to prevent clogging or irritation. We use 100% natural/organic botanical oils and extracts. We completely avoid heavy or clogging oils like mineral oils or silicones. Silicones are synthetically-derived chemicals that are occlusive so they suffocate the skin and trap actives, preventing them from being absorbed by the skin. They are used in most of the serums and moisturizers on the market so be aware of ingredients such as 'dimethicone' or 'methicone' in the ingredient list.
The pump on my product is not working, what do I do?
Occasionally an air bubble gets into the pump/spray and stops it working. Almost always the following method will clear the air from the pump/spray. Hold the bottle with the lid on and bang the bottle down against a hard surface two or three times. This will almost always clear the air bubble. If the problem persists please contact us at info@chidembeauty.
Are CHIDEM products suitable for vegans?
The only animal product we use is beeswax in our Body Silk Body Treatment Butter from the Personalized Luxury Collection. We also use Honey Extract in our Facial Toners, Body Cream and KePro Hair Mist to soften the skin and hair. We are able to change our formulations to suit your need, so if you wish your products not to contain honey or beeswax, please specify whilst ordering.
How long does it take to formulate, produce and deliver my products?
The time to prepare formulations all depend on the complexity of the formulas. The products which are a part of our collections can take up to 5 working days to proceed with the production in the laboratory. For your personalized orders, it takes up to 3 working days to review your consultation, create a formula specific to you and order ingredients. It takes up to 7 working days for your ingredients to be delivered to our laboratories from our direct distributors all around the world. If you are ordering a personalized gift to a friend, we recommend you order 14 days in advance to ensure your products reach you in time. We never want to cause a disappointment.
We are proud to state that all our products are made in small scale measurements in a laboratory and not in a continuous operating manufacturing plant. Our production cycle is therefore longer but this is due to our in-depth analysis and the bespoke services we offer.
Once your order is made, products are delivered First Class via Royal Mail. It can take up to 3 working days for orders to be delivered in the UK and approximately 5 working days for it to be delivered to countries in Europe. If you are ordering from Northern Cyprus it will ease delivery if you enter a Southern Cyprus Post Code whilst ordering, if not, all products to Northern Cyprus are sent to our distributing agent end of each month. Please be aware that our products are only insured for sales in the European Countries. If you are ordering outside Europe please email us at email@example.com, and we will try our best to deliver you in time.
My products smell earthy, why?
We never use artificial fragrances. The smell of your products purely reflects the natural synergistic smell of your ingredients put together. For example nut oils, especially Macadamia, can smell a quite nutty. Cucumber and Olive oils also have a very strong smell. Nettle and Birch infusions also smell herby, but these are the natural smells of ingredients. We believe in embracing these smells rather than hiding it with artificial pore blocking fragrances.
I don’t like the smell of my personalized product. What shall I do?
Once a product is made for you, unfortunately we do not except any returns, unless there is a problem with its packaging, or has caused sensitivity on your skin. Products from the Personalized Luxury Collection are specifically formulated for you and only your chosen essential oils are blended together. You can mix up to 5 different essential oils to create your own bespoke scent. If for instance you have chosen a body cream to be scented orange, sandalwood and lemon and you wish your cream to smell more of orange than please state this during ordering.
